Founder and President

Bill Gildea is the Founder and President of ECAP LLC and ECAP Insurance Agency.  He is recognized as a pioneer in the field of environmental insurance and has a strong track record of successfully advancing environmental businesses and projects through effective finance and investment strategies.  Before founding ECAP, Mr. Gildea held senior positions at Connecticut Bank & Trust and Phoenix Investment Counsel.  He was also a Founder and Managing Director of Environmental Warranty, where he developed one of the first environmental insurance products for a capital markets specialty lender.  Mr. Gildea served as the Secretary/Treasurer of the National Brownfield Association from its inception in 1999 until 2003.  He holds an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

John Weigold is a Partner in ECAP LLC with more than 15 years of experience as an environmental entrepreneur and senior manager in the waste management/recycling and financial services industries.  Mr. Weigold joined ECAP in 2003, where he supports new business development with financial analysis, strategic planning, and by representing business interests to state and local governments.  Prior to joining ECAP, Mr. Weigold served as a Vice President of the Defined Contribution Services Division of State Street Corporation, where he was responsible for the custody business of several Fortune 500 clients.  Prior to State Street, he was Director of Operations for Laidlaw, Inc., with responsibility for the solid waste/recycling transportation division.  Mr. Weigold holds a BS from the State University of New York at Geneseo and an MBA from Northeastern University.

John McLaughlin is a Partner in ECAP LLC with more than 20 years of experience in the capital markets and investment banking arena.  As President of Irish Financial Group, Inc., Mr. McLaughlin advised on a variety of real estate finance transactions and capital markets applications of environmental insurance to clients that include GMAC Commercial Mortgage (GMACCM), AIG Environmental, and Lehman Brothers.  He developed, with partners, a Small Loan Program for commercial real estate at GMACCM.  Mr. McLaughlin most recently served as the Managing Director for commercial real estate finance transactions at Chubb Financial Solutions.  He holds a BS from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a JD from Cornell University.

Bob Clifford is a Partner in ECAP Insurance Agency with more than 10 years of experience providing environmental insurance solutions for commercial real estate developers, investors, lenders and attorneys.  Prior to joining ECAP Insurance, Mr. Clifford was Managing Director of Environmental Warranty, Inc., a brokerage firm concentrating in environmental insurance.

Mr. Clifford has also held senior positions in corporate and real estate banking offices.  A graduate of the University of Vermont, Mr. Clifford earned an MBA from the University of Connecticut.

Catherine Gildea is a partner in ECAP Insurance Agency with more than 20 years of experience in business development and operations.  Prior to joining ECAP, Ms. Gildea was the Director of Operations for Brockton Professional Baseball, LLC, a minor league baseball stadium and conference center.  She previously served as Vice President at The Whyte Group, Inc., an executive recruiting company in Bethesda, MD.  Ms. Gildea began her career in the securities industry working for the Massachusetts Securities Commission and the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. in Washington, D.C.

Project Manager/Office Manager

Shelli Barry is the Project Manager/Office Manager of ECAP LLC and ECAP Insurance Agency, with more than 10 years of experience coordinating the office functions of environmental insurance and engineering firms.  Ms. Barry joined ECAP in 1998, when it was a start-up real estate advisory services company associated with the national environmental engineering firm ERM New England, Inc.  In her current capacity, Ms. Barry supports the coordination of environmental insurance for brownfield clients, designs and operates client and project management databases, handles all accounting functions, oversees systems management, and serves as benefits coordinator.  Prior to joining ECAP, Ms. Barry worked for TMG/Accounting Solutions - A Staffing Resources Company in Boston.  Ms. Barry holds a BS from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
